Senator Nozzolio Announces $175 Million In Available State Funding for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Projects

New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio today announced $175 million in state funding is available to assist municipalities with water quality improvement projects including both drinking water and sewage treatment infrastructure. The New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) is currently accepting applications for the grants.

“The importance of clean drinking water cannot be overstated,” said Senator Mike Nozzolio. “We must do all possible to ensure that our localities can provide residents with safe, high-quality drinking water. This funding will aid municipalities in paying for much needed improvements and repairs.”

Funding is available to all municipalities including counties, cities, towns and villages, as well as public benefit corporations or public authorities empowered to construct water quality infrastructure. Qualifying projects include the replacement or repair of infrastructure and compliance with environmental and public health law and regulations related to water quality.
 

To be eligible, the municipalities’ 2013 American Community Survey (ACS) Median Household Income (MHI) must be less than 80 percent of the statewide 2013 MHI, or if the MHI is between 80 percent to 100 percent of the 2013 statewide MHI, then the family poverty rate must be greater than or equal to the 2013 ACS statewide average.
