Citing his record setting 34 years of elective service in the New York State Legislature and dedication to the people of his home county and the entire Finger Lakes Region, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors recently adopted a resolution honoring New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio.
The resolution was introduced by Supervisor Robert Shipley of Waterloo and seconded by Supervisor Robert Hayssen of Varick.
“It was a tremendous honor to receive this recognition from the Seneca County Board of Supervisors. Seneca County may be the smallest of the six counties I represent, but it is the place I have called home throughout my life. I have enjoyed working with members of the Board for over the last three decades, and I thank Chairman Gary Westfall and the entire Seneca County Board of Supervisors for their support throughout my service to the people of Seneca County,” said Senator Nozzolio. “I look forward to continuing to work with the Board to further our common goal of the betterment of Seneca County.”
The resolution highlighted many of Senator Nozzolio’s accomplishments specifically for Seneca County, including the creation of the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the site of the former Sampson Naval Base, the development of the Fire and Public Safety Training Facility at the former Seneca Army Depot, and his role in the making of Seneca Falls as the site of one of the first canal harbor projects in New York State. In addition, Senator Nozzolio had led the effort to restore over 1,500 jobs to the Seneca Army Depot, and played a key role in converting the former Willard Psychiatric Center to the first of its kind substance abuse focused prison. Senator Nozzolio is also responsible for increased funding for local schools, libraries and fire departments in Seneca County and throughout the Finger Lakes.
