Ranzenhofer Secures $360,000 for Williamsville Fire Department
Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer

Williamsville, NY – State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced $360,000 in state funding for the Williamsville Fire Department to help offset the costs of a major capital project. The planned renovations call for replacing the roof, generator, concrete in the front and rear of the building, and truck bay floor, and building a women’s locker room.
“The Williamsville Fire Department plays a vital role in our community, and I am committed to securing the necessary resources so that our volunteer firefighters are able to get the job done,” said Ranzenhofer. “Today’s announced state investment will help to preserve these life-saving services for Williamsville residents.”
“Like many other municipalities, our Fire Department has had to overcome limited revenues and increasing expenses, while ensuring key services delivered by our professional volunteer firefighters can be maintained. Senator Ranzenhofer has been a true partner in making these renovations a reality– for the future of our Village and for those who will live in this community long after we are gone,” said Williamsville Fire Department Chief Michael A. Measer.
The renovations will improve deteriorated conditions and safety for both firefighters and the public. During heavy rains, the existing roof leaks onto the firefighters’ gear racks. The original generator does not provide power to the entire building during outages, presenting a difficult situation when the Department is designated as an emergency shelter.
The condition of the concrete apron and truck bay floor have deteriorated so much that it is no longer safe for first responders. The truck bay doors have not been replaced since 1985. The existing building has only a small woman’s bathroom with no locker room or shower facilities for the Department’s five female firefighters.
The total cost of the project is over $500,000. The renovations are expected to start this week.
