Clarence, NY– State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has secured a state grant in the amount of $12,500 to assist the Town of Clarence Justice Court in providing domestic violence legal services.
The funding will be used for the construction of a special area in the new Courthouse that will shield victims of domestic violence and witnesses from defendants accused of committing those crimes.
“This important funding will help to protect domestic violence victims from their abusers. A new special area at Clarence Town Court will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for domestic violence victims to work with advocates,” said Ranzenhofer.
Senator Ranzenhofer worked with Clarence Town Justice Michael B. Powers to secure the funding.
“One of my and Judge Sillars’ top priorities is to provide a safe and secure environment within the courthouse to protect victims of domestic violence. Senator Ranzenhofer’s grant will be helpful to meet a critical need in our community,” said Powers.
The new facility in the Town of Clarence will encompass a State Police Barracks, Sheriff Substation and the Courthouse.
