Senator Gallivan Encourages Comments on Proposed Changes to NYS Learning Standards

The State Education Department is proposing changes to the state learning standards for math and English language arts. The changes have been recommended by committees made up of parents and educators. The new draft learning standards for ELA and mathematics are available on SED’s website for public review and comment: http://www.nysed.gov/aimhighny
Comment will be accepted through Nov. 4. SED will carefully review the public comments and make final revisions to the ELA and Mathematics Learning Standards. The final revisions will be presented to the Board of Regents for its consideration in early 2017.
