Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C-I, Elma) a former New York State Trooper and Sheriff of Erie County, has been re-appointed to serve as Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections. Gallivan has chaired the committee since 2013.
“I am honored to once again serve as Chairman of this committee,” Gallivan said. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our citizens and our communities. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the many critical issues regarding public safety in New York.”
Gallivan has also been appointed to serve as a member of 12 additional Senate committees, including Agriculture; Transportation; Infrastructure & Capital Investment; and the Standing Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business.
Gallivan will once again serve as a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which plays a critical role in the state’s budget process. His goal is to help ensure adoption of a state budget that controls the size and cost of government and provides a fair distribution of resources.
Other committees which Gallivan is a member include: Codes; Elections; Higher Education; Housing; and Labor. He also serves as a member of State-Native American Relations Select Committee and the Science, Technology, Incubation & Entrepreneurship’s Select Committee.
Senate committee assignments for 2016 were announced at the start of the new Legislative session.
