Creating Safer Schools: Ritchie secures $7,500 for Security Upgrades at Lyme Central

With students preparing to head back into the classroom next week, State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing she has secured $7,500 in funding to help improve safety in the Lyme Central School District.

"Our schools are places where children should be able to grow up, learn and have fun, free from being afraid of violence and crime,” Senator Ritchie said.

“I am pleased to be able to secure this funding, which will improve security at Lyme Central and create a safer learning environment for students, educators and families.”

“The health and safety of our students, teachers and staff is something that is first and foremost on our minds,” said Lyme Central School District Superintendent Cammy Morrison.

 “That’s why the funding secured by Senator Ritchie is so important and greatly appreciated.”

Funding secured by Senator Ritchie will be used to help purchase equipment to enhance safety in the district.

Securing funding for security upgrades builds on Senator Ritchie’s work to create safer learning environments for students. Earlier this month, Senator Ritchie announced $70,000 to help enhance in-school drug prevention efforts throughout Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties.
