Jefferson County Residents Can Toss Waste Tires for Free at Ritchie-Sponsored Events
September 8, 2016
State Senator Patty Ritchie is encouraging Jefferson County residents to mark their calendars for two free waste tire disposal events that will take place later this month.
The free events—which are made possible through special funding secured by Senator Ritchie and are cosponsored by Jefferson County Solid Waste—are slated to take place on September 17th and 24th.
“Discarded tires can often become breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes, not to mention can clutter yards and roadsides,” said Senator Ritchie.
“As we head into fall, these events are a perfect opportunity not only for Jefferson County residents to tidy up, but also to reduce health risks.”
Details of the events are as follows:
Saturday September 17th
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Jefferson County Highway Department
21897 County Route 190 in Watertown
Saturday September 24th
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Town of Adams Highway Department
13269 Victory Lane in Adams Center
Please note, the free waste tire drop-offs will allow for the disposal of up to 8 tires per household, with the usual fee being waived. No tractor tires will be accepted and all tires must be removed from rims.
To date, more than 50,000 waste tires throughout Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties have been eliminated of through Senator Ritchie’s free disposal events.
