State Senator Patty Ritchie joined with students, educators and district leaders Tuesday to help cut the ribbon on a new playground at the Belleville Henderson Central School District.

The new playground was made possible through $50,000 in special funding secured by Senator Ritchie last year.

“I can still remember memories made on the school playground when I was young—and it’s so important that today’s children have that same opportunity to play with friends in an environment that is safe and fun,” said Senator Ritchie.

“I would like to thank Belleville Henderson for inviting me to take part in today’s ribbon cutting, and wish its students many happy years ahead of enjoying their new playground.”

“Making sure children get outside, get active and interact with their peers is a key part of a student’s education,” said District Superintendent Rick Moore. “Today was a special day for our district, and we would like to thank Senator Ritchie not only for being on hand to help mark the official opening of our new playground, but also for her continued efforts to improve learning opportunities for our students.”

Securing funding for the new playground continues Senator Ritchie’s efforts to enhance educational offerings for students at the Belleville Henderson Central School District.  Earlier this year, she announced she secured $17,000 in funding to help the district purchase equipment currently being used to train students for future careers in manufacturing.
