State Senator Patty Ritchie is now accepting nominations for the New York State Senate’s “Veterans Hall of Fame,” an initiative created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life.

“In recent years, I’ve not only been able to honor dozens of veterans through this special program, I’ve also been given the opportunity to learn about their personal stories of struggle and triumph,” said Senator Ritchie.

“From Army nurses who made it their mission to care for soldiers during WWII, to individuals who have served our country during more recent conflicts in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, their courage is truly inspiring.  I’m looking forward to honoring another group of heroes again this year.”

Veterans’ posts, family members, friends and community leaders in Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties are invited to make nominations.  Nomination forms are available for download on Senator Ritchie’s website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov.  Those without access to a computer can have a form mailed to them by calling (315) 782-3418.  Nominations must be received by April 25th.

All honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony taking place on Thursday, May 12th at the Edick-Hamlick Veterans of Foreign War Post #369 in Mexico, New York.
