State Senator Patty Ritchie welcomed the Lady Islanders hockey team to the State Capitol Monday, where the team was honored for their capture of the state title.
“Today, we’re recognizing the determination, effort and teamwork of a truly exceptional squad of young women,” said Senator Ritchie.
“Not only have they given their communities so much to be proud of, they’ve set a great example for other young women to follow, showing them that by being determined—and by working together—they can do anything they set their minds to.”
In February, the Lady Islanders took home the state championship title with a 3-2 win over Kenmore-Grand Island.
During their visit to the Capitol, Senator Ritchie honored the team during the day’s Senate session with an official Resolution.
