Statement From New York State Senator Rich Funke
January 12, 2016
“Every day, families here fall on hard times – maybe a parent loses a job or a loved one gets sick and it’s time to tighten the belt. To protect their bottom line, we recently extended the state property tax cap, which also limits local government spending. Yet Albany must do more to live by the same high standards for fiscal restraint. Today I voted for Senator Robach’s bill to codify a cap on state spending and make Albany live by the same rules local families, governments, and school districts do. If we want to build New York to lead, then Albany should lead by example with this new self-imposed standard to better serve the taxpayers who ultimately pay its bills.”
