"Like her husband, Nancy Reagan was an inspirational leader who not only reflected the very best of America, she brought out the best in all of us. Although she was a loyal defender of President Reagan and his legacy, she also set the standard for future First Ladies by taking an active role in his Presidency as a trusted advisor and confidant in her own right. Most of all, she radiated class and grace for several decades in public life, always serving humbly and never seeking out the limelight for personal gain. I join all Americans in extending condolences to the Reagan family on the passing of First Lady Nancy Reagan, who lived a life we can all be proud of."
