Access to the internet is a great equalizer, putting a world's worth of knowledge at our fingertips that we can use to do things like find a job or connect with others. It's also a key component in economic development today, as many growing employers are deciding where to do business based on the availability of a fast, reliable connection. State-wide broadband would bring these benefits to thousands of Upstate residents, including many in our District, and help us do even more to create and retain local jobs. I thank the Governor for setting such an aggressive goal and I look forward to seeing progress made towards universal broadband by 2019.
