(Brooklyn, NY) Ahead of this Thanksgiving, Senator Persaud encouraged local residents to give thanks by giving back to our community members in need during the Holiday Season.
“As we prepare our feasts and make plans with loved ones, I ask all New Yorkers to consider the needs of our less fortunate members of our community and donate time, money and food items to organizations that serve free Thanksgiving meals to ensure that no New Yorker goes without food and love.”
Many neighborhood organizations including non-profit charities, faith-based institutions, shelters, and community centers hold annual Thanksgiving dinners that are free to the public which provide a hot and festive meal to anyone who attends. There are also many events organized around Thanksgiving to raise funds for food banks, and other charitable causes.
“Nobody should have to go hungry on any day of the year, and Thanksgiving is certainly no exception,” Senator Persaud said. “I urge everyone to join me to do our part and ensure that no New Yorker’s thankful reflection is lessened by the distractions of hunger, cold and solitude. With your help, I wish everyone a happy and meaningful Thanksgiving.”
