“I commend Governor Cuomo and Vice President Biden for bringing together my colleagues, working parents, care givers and other advocates at the kick-off, of the “Strong Families, Strong New York” campaign event. New York State is taking the right steps to passing the Paid Family Leave Act. “Strong Families, Strong New York” will lead toward “Strong Families, Strong America” because everyone should be able to care for their loved ones in a time of need.”
The stress of an ill family member is truly a crippling experience. No New Yorker should have to worry about choosing between their livelihood and their loved ones. The Governor has proposed that New York enact a 12 week paid family leave policy. The Paid Family Leave Act is a common sense initiative.
“I stand in strong support of policies that are designed to help working families care for a newborn or seriously ill relative. My colleagues at the Senate Democratic Conference remains committed to building a stronger economy by helping our hardworking families and will continue to lead the way on paid family leave.”
