State Senator Roxanne Persaud Commends Mayor De Blasio and Commissioner Banks For Assembling A Three-Tier Job Stimulus Program: YouthPathways, CareerCompass, and CareerAdvance.

BROOKLYN – Senator Persaud applauds the City for releasing Request for Proposals (RFPs) for new employment programs accessible to those on public assistance. The three-tiered program is brilliantly crafted to help those in our community transition from public assistance to careers.

The stimulus programs focuses on young  individuals between the ages of 18 and 24 years of age. It is of the utmost importance that the YouthPathway vendors provides training, education and job placement to ensure that our youth are well prepared to enter the job market.  

Individuals  who are 25 and older and who have already acquired certain skills are geared toward the CareerCompass vendors. These vendors assess those with job related experiences to help create a specific career oriented service plan. Those lacking the necessary skills to enter the job market are provided with adult literacy options so they too can join the workforce.

The CareerAdvance vendors provides more of a specialized training to target employable workers that are certainly capable of  joining the workforce but are often times overlooked. Those programs include providing services to communities such as homeless New Yorkers, domestic violence survivors, and armed forces veterans.
