Too many people in our communities are dying from heroin and opioid addiction. Too often, addiction starts with prescription painkillers and can quickly escalate to heroin abuse. The heroin epidemic is here. It’s in our streets, in our schools and it may be in our homes. If we want to put a stop to it, we cannot afford to turn a blind eye.
We invite teens, parents, adults taking care of aging parents, and seniors concerned about their pain medications to join us for a comprehensive event in which you will be able to:
- Learn the signs of addiction and where to turn for help
- Safely dispose of unused prescription drugs
- Learn about the life-saving tools available to prevent overdoses with our Narcan training (Each individual who participates in the Narcan training will receive a free kit to take with them)
There are three opportunities to participate with the first being this Thursday evening:
Thursday, April 14 at Stissing Mountain Middle/High School
2829 Church St, Pine Plains, NY 12567
Time: 6:30 - 8:30 pm
RSVP (518) 398-7181 ext. 1401
Wednesday, April 20 at Dover High School
2368 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY 12522

Can’t attend the full event, but still want to dispose of your unused prescription drugs? The prescription drug drop box will be up and running throughout the duration of each event, so just drive up and drop them off. We’ll take care of the rest!
Members of the community and local media are invited to attend any of the three free events.
Members of the community only need to RSVP for the Narcan training portion of the events to ensure that enough kits are on hand for all who wish to participate.
