EAST FISKILL, NY—Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) was at the East Fishkill Community Library this week for a meet and greet with library board members who took the opportunity to publically thank the Senator for grant awards she delivered over the past two years.
“From hosting community events to providing critical professional development tools and resources for our students, our local libraries play a critical and direct role in improving life here in our community,” said Senator Serino. “I am proud to be able to play a role in investing in their success and I will continue to do all that I can to support their efforts.”
Library Director Gloria Goverman said, “The library is thrilled to receive grant money from Senator Serino which enables us to bridge the gap between our budget and some of the needs that we have to put off. We're very grateful that Senator Serino is such a devoted library supporter.”
Since taking office, Senator Serino has been able to deliver critical state aid to each and every library in the Senate District. The East Fishkill Community Library received $6,000 in state education grants in 2015 and an additional $12,000 this year. The grant funding was used to purchase several book display units and were used to replace several old, battered tables with new, multi-functional ones that can be reconfigured based on the needs of the patrons using them to better serve literacy tutors and community meetings.
