Serino Thanks Public for Helping to Raise Awareness for Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases

HYDE PARK—Senator Sue Serino, Chair of the Senate’s Taskforce on Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases (TBDs), today thanked residents who attended her public forum at John Jay High School, stressing the importance of community involvement in stopping the spread of Lyme and TBDs.

“Since taking office in January, few issues have engaged so many in our community like Lyme Disease,” said Senator Serino. “With research constantly changing the way we view the issue, it is so important that we take the time to come together, ask questions and understand the ever-evolving challenges surrounding Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases. This event was an opportunity to do just that and I thank the community members who took the time to attend and help continue to raise awareness for these debilitating diseases.”

The forum featured presentations by leading experts to help raise awareness for the issue and provide community members with the information they need to protect themselves, their families and their pets from Lyme and TBDs as they enjoy outdoor activities throughout the summer. The event also featured a question and answer segment during which members of the audience had a chance to ask the panel of experts their most pressing questions on the issue.
