Murphy delivers crucial funds for Yorktown's roads

YORKTOWN, NY - Spring may have finally arrived, but there are some roadways in Yorktown damaged by this past winter that are in need of repair. To fix the potholes and rough surfaces, Senator Terrence Murphy has secured $464,369.32 from the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) to repair Yorktown's roads.

"Our roadways are the driving force behind our economy," Senator Murphy said. "As a resident of this town I see the trouble spots every morning when I drive my kids to school. This money will go a long way in addressing the infrastructure needs of our town and keep Yorktown moving forward under the watchful eyes of Supervisor Grace, Highway Superintendent Paganelli and the great staff at the highway department."

The money is part of the DOT's Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) and Local PAVE-NY 2016-17 budget. It is an increase of $31,292.84 from the allotted funds for road repair in last year's State budget. More than $4.221 million has been allocated by the DOT for municipalities in the 40th District. Overall, municipalities in Westchester County will receive more than $3,000,000.

Michael Grace, Yorktown Town Supervisor said, "We are very happy with the town's allocation. Repaving our local roads will decrease problems with traffic and lessen wear and tear on everyone's vehicles. We deeply appreciate what we're getting through the efforts of Senator Murphy."

Dave Pagnelli, Yorktown Highway Superintendent added, "I am glad we were able to work with Senator Murphy and thank him for his efforts on behalf of our town. The extra funding from CHIPS is going to be a big help."
