Murphy Moves Regulatory Reform Into The 21st Century

ALBANY, NY - New York continues to rank near the bottom of the list when it comes to being a business friendly state. Senator Terrence Murphy, a small business owner himself, has taken it upon himself to change that. Since being appointed Chairman of the Administrative Regulations Review Commission, the freshman from the Hudson Valley has been slicing and dicing New York's red tape.

"It is no secret that New York's bureaucratic weight is simply crushing businesses," said Senator Murphy. "When we have unelected bureaucrats making decisions that hinder our ability to start and grow a business it is our responsibility to figure out how to fix it. The sad reality is these folks are making decisions for our businesses but they have not spent a single day in our shoes trying to make payroll. By signing these bills Governor Cuomo is allowing the rulemaking and regulatory process to be more transparent for all New Yorkers."

On Friday, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed two additional piece of legislation that Murphy says will help shine the light on the bureaucratic control in New York State. S7097 amends the State Administrative Procedure Act (SAPA) to ensure full text of proposed or revised rules and regulations that are published in the State Register are posted on a state agency's website. S7098 ensures the full text of all emergency rules are made available to the public, by either being published in the State Register or posting on a state agency website.
