PATTERSON, NY – Senator Terrence Murphy recently visited the Patterson Library and was delighted to see his grant for $5,000 being put to such good use. The grant helped the library purchase new computers, which are among their most popular and well-used resources.
The library, which serves over 70,000 visitors a year, offers a wide array of adult and children’s programs covering everything from presentations on cooking and computers to finance, local history, travel and recreation. The Patterson Library now has expanded services for kids with a new digital collection website. It also is home to the St. James Theater Kids Musical Revue, which performs creative productions such as “Grunch the Musical.” One of the most unique parts of the Senator’s tour was a trip outside to see the library’s flourishing garden, which is tended to by volunteers and friends of the library.
“The Patterson Library is a true asset to the community. The diversity of its programming for children and adults is astounding,” Senator Murphy said. “Libraries are vital resources and contribute to our quality of life. It is important that we continue to support our local libraries.”
