Senator Murphy Sponsors Health Fair For Seniors And Caregivers

CORTLANDT MANOR, NY - Senator Terrence Murphy partnered with New York-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital to sponsor a free Senior and Caregiver Health Fair. New York-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital helped provide a wide array of services, including, cardio pulmonary rehabilitation, orthopedic education, wellness information, physical & occupational therapy, and glucose screening. More than a dozen other vendors will be available to provide free health screenings and offer valuable health and financial information.
"The fair addressed every aspect of senior life, including financial as well as physical health," Senator Murphy said. "This was an opportunity for seniors to get one-on-one advice from experts. We will had representatives from nursing and veterans homes, visiting nurse services, Shoprite, and the Department of Public Works and Transportation among many other organizations."
As an added service, Senator Murphy joined forces with the Westchester County Police Department to offer his successful "Shed the Meds" program. Residents brought their unwanted or expired medications to the Morabito Community Center and the police will dispose of them in a safe and secure manner.
"Our 2nd Annual Seniors and Caregivers Health Fair was an incredible success," Murphy added. "A special thank you to NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital and the Town of Cortlandt for partnering with us this morning. I would also like to thank ShopRite for hosting a wonderful breakfast for the wonderful folks who came by to take advantage of the free services we offered. I look forward to seeing everyone again at next year's fair!"
