October 25, 2016
MONTROSE, NY – Thanks to Senator Terrence Murphy, veterans who attend sporting events at Hendrick Hudson High School will now have a front row seat. Senator Murphy delivered $60,000 in grant money to help the high school build new bleachers with special front row seats designated for veterans.
“I think this is a great way to honor and recognize our local veterans,” said Senator Murphy. “It is a way to give back to the men and women who serve our country and make sacrifices for our freedom and safety. By giving them front row seating, the school will be paying tribute to our local veterans at every sporting event.”
Tom Baker, Director of K-12 Physical Education, Health, and Athletics for the Hendrick Hudson School District said, “Putting in the new bleachers is a great way for our athletes to say ‘thank you’ to our local veterans for all they have done for our country. I think it will inspire our athletes to see these brave men and women sitting in the front row.”
The school’s mission is to foster the quest for excellence by creating an educational and competitive experience within an atmosphere of sportsmanship. Hendrick Hudson’s programs develop individual and team potential by promoting high standards of competence, character, civility, and citizenship.
