Forest Hills, NY—Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Flushing) and Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi honored Forest Hills High School with a resolution commemorating the school’s 75th Anniversary.
Forest Hills High School opened its doors on February 3, 1941. The building was hailed as an architectural masterpiece with its simplified Georgian style architecture and a commanding view of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
Today, the school boasts a number of achievements, including being named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and receiving an “A” on the New York State report card four years in a row – the only large high school in Queens to do so.
“Seventy-five years after its founding, Forest Hills High School remains a place of excellence, both in academics and athletics,” State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky said. “From specialized academic programs to distinguished alumni to a multitude of extracurricular activities, Forest Hills High School truly embodies its motto, ‘It begins and ends in the classroom.’ I want to congratulate Principal Saul Gootnick, the staff, students, alumni and parents of the Forest Hills High School for making this a community of academic excellence.”
“I am proud to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Forest Hills High School (FHHS). This institution, under the leadership of Principal Saul Gootnick, has a long-standing commitment to our community and to ensuring their student’s successes. This is demonstrated by FHHS earning an “A” on the New York State report card, being a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and for offering specialized academic opportunities and partnerships with social service organizations, hospitals, and universities. Forest Hills also prides themselves on their talented sports teams, numerous extracurricular activities and clubs, college readiness programs for their students, as well as a strong alumni base. I applaud the accomplishments of Forest Hills High School and the many benefits they have added to our State, and look forward to celebrating their future achievements,” Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi said.
