Senator Todd Kaminsky: “Today a battle was won in the war against corruption—but the war must rage on. Finally taxpayers will receive some justice because dirty politicians will lose their pensions. We have taken a step forward to curb the influence of the wealthy and the powerful by tightening our campaign finance laws and checking Citizens United. But make no mistake: today’s accomplishments are not nearly enough. Albany will have to do much more to stem the tide of corruption drowning our Capitol. We need to close the LLC loophole and ban outside income so that the people can rest assured that the democratic process is theirs, and theirs alone."
Kaminsky is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney who prosecuted corrupt politicians, including Pedro Espada, Jr. He successfully petitioned a court to redirect former Sen. Espada's pension to the taxpayers.
