Senator Avella and Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Host Free Mammogram Event

Queens, NY – On Friday, November 18th from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM, State Senator Tony Avella and the Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps will be hosting free breast cancer screenings in the district. The free procedure will be conducted by the American Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) Mobile Care Clinic.
To be eligible for the free screening, you must be a woman 40 and older with health insurance or 50 and older without health insurance. Additionally, you must be a New York City resident and have not received a mammogram in the last 12 months. No co-pays are required and deductibles are waived.
“Around the country we celebrate October as breast cancer awareness month. However, breast cancer is an issue that affects the women in our community all year round. I’m proud to partner with the Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the AICF to ensure that the mothers, sisters, and daughters of New York City have access to preventative procedures that can save their lives,” Senator Avella said.
