March 24, 2016
Senator Bill Larkin (R-39th District) is pleased to announce that he secured a $125,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) Grant for the Town of Crawford. The funding will be used to create a new walking trail and to build a new restroom facility in the Tessi Chessari Memorial Park.
“This funding will help more residents get greater use and enjoyment out of their park, while encouraging local residents to take part in healthier and active lifestyles,” said Senator Larkin. "I am proud to play a part in the building of critical parks infrastructure in the Town of Crawford"
Town of Crawford Supervisor Charles Carnes said: “I would like to thank Senator Larkin for all the help in obtaining these two important grants for the residents of the Town of Crawford. The Town has been in the planning stage for the proposed walking trail for some time now and this will help to make this project a reality.”
Supervisor Carnes noted that the trail, which is expected to be open in late spring or early summer, will provide outdoor exercise as well as scenic vistas of the Shawangunk and Catskill mountains.
The grant funding will be used to create a walking trail as well as building a new restroom facility near the soccer fields to replace the current port-a-potties.
