Senator Larkin Announces Correction Officer Exam

Senator William J. Larkin, Jr. (R-C-I, 39th District) joined the New York State Office of Corrections and Community Supervision to announce a new correction officer exam.

“On February 11^th, 2017 the New York State Department of Civil Service will be offering a new exam.  The filing deadline to take this exam is December 20th of this year”, said Senator Bill Larkin.  “With the filing deadline fast approaching, I would like to encourage anyone interested to take advantage of this opportunity.  Now more than ever we need quality individuals serving in these very important public service positions.”

According to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision a correction officer trainee’s starting salary is currently $40,590 per year.  After six months, the salary increases to $42,695.  After successful completion of the one-year correction officer traineeship, the salary increases to $48,889 per year.
