Senator Bill Larkin (R-C-I, 39th District) announced today that he secured a $200,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) grant for the Village of Woodbury Highway Department to purchase a new recycling truck for organic recycling.
"Recycling is a key component to keeping our environment clean and healthy, not only for ourselves, but for our children and our children's children," Senator Larkin said. "So I'm pleased to announce that I secured monies for the Woodbury Highway Department to purchase a new recycling truck."
Orange County recently approved "Single Stream Recycling," which means no more sorting for residents and use of one truck for pick-up. This new truck will help the Village's efforts to re-use, reduce and recycle.
“This grant will make our recycling process more efficient to our residents and save taxpayers from a potential increase,” said Village of Woodbury Mayor Michael Queenan. “When we came to Senator Larkin with this issue we did not know he would be able to cover the total cost of this equipment. It is yet another example of our Senator coming through for the greater Woodbury community.”
