Marcellino Announces Mary Stanco Honored as “Woman of Distinction”

Senator Carl L. Marcellino today announced that Mary Stanco has been selected as a 2017 New York State “Woman of Distinction."
"I am proud to honor Mary as a Woman of Distinction, and prouder still of the recognition she earned from neighbors, colleagues and friends for her achievements on behalf of our community," said Senator Marcellino.
Mary Stanco is a lifelong Glen Cove resident and is the Sales Manager for Laffey Fine Homes Real Estate in Glen Cove, NY. As an active member of the community, she has had the opportunity to work with civic officials as well as members of the multi-cultural business community resulting in valuable experience dealing with a complex international marketplace.
Mary has always been extremely involved in the local community. Through her memberships, she has been a personal advocate in helping the homeless, those in need of personal services like food, clothing and household items.
Ms. Stanco's reach in Glen Cove is widely known. She is a member of Glen Cove National Nite Out Planning Committee, the City of Glen Cove's "Senior Day" at Village Square, Planning Committee, and has served as President, 1st VP President and Executive Board Member of the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce.
In addition she has volunteered with AARP of Glen Cove, Glen Cove Deasy School, Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Miracle Network, St. Christopher's Ottilie, The Glen Cove Senior Center, Youth Exchange Committee, St. Patrick's Church, Glen Cove, Glen Cove Cares, The Regency of Glen Cove, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, The National Night Out, Diabetes Foundation, SAGE Foundation, Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, Dress for Success, The Food Pantry Glen Cove, Rotary International, National Night out in Glen Cove, Senior Day, Annual Car Show in Glen Cove and the Sons of Italy. She was named the PBA Person of the Year 2015 and the 2008 LIBOR Sprit Award Recipient.
Mary is a graduate of Briarcliff College where she earned a B.A. in Business Administration Marketing.
"Mary is one of the success stories that we can proudly share with all New Yorkers. She serves as an example for achievement and excellence for our entire community. Her name now joins those of other women whose accomplishments, sacrifices and deeds on behalf of others are deserving of special honor," said Senator Marcellino.
Mary was honored at an Albany reception on May 9th where the winners photographs and biographies are displayed in a special public exhibit at the Legislative Office Building.
The Senate's "Woman of Distinction" program was created in 1998 to honor New York women who exemplify personal excellence, or whose professional achievements or acts of courage, selflessness, integrity or perseverance serve as an example to all New Yorkers.
