“There is a strong need for safe and energy efficient housing for the elderly, veterans and disadvantaged in Cattaraugus County. Weatherizing deteriorated housing stock improves properties, saves energy, and keeps people warm during our brutal winter months. The funding for Cattaraugus Community Action will help the organization provide low-income homeowners with safe living environments, to stabilize and preserve housing in our community,” said Senator Young.
Cattaraugus Community Action Inc. received a $750,000 grant from the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) to expand their weatherization and energy conservation program. The program works to improve existing homes where weather and energy usage issues are driving homeowners from their homes.
