Senator Elaine Phillips Secures $49,000 For Community Organization For Parents And Youths

Senator Elaine Phillips announced she has secured $49,000 in state funding for the Community Organization for Parents and Youth (COPAY).

 “Organizations like COPAY that dedicate their time and resources to the well-being of local children are the foundation of our community,” Senator Elaine Phillips said. “This funding will assist COPAY in expanding their prevention programs that help keep children and adults on a successful path in life.”

Senator Phillips recently attended the organization’s Kids Helping Kids moving up ceremony and honored the children for their hard work in the program.

Children in the program were recognized for their summer participation and the counselors and counselors-in-training were honored for their dedication and work.

“These programs are made possible by the counselors who dedicate time and effort because they care about putting children on the right path to succeed in life,” Senator Phillips said. “It’s wonderful that many of the counselors have gone through the program as they have the ability to teach their campers what they have learned.”

COPAY will use the funding to expand its prevention services for young children, middle and high school students and adults.

“We are so grateful that Senator Phillips is providing to the agency,” Maria Cuadra, the Executive Director, said. “We hope to increase the number of children and families that we provide services for in order to help them be successful in their community.”
