Senator Phillips Sponsors Student Leadership Academy For Local Sixth Graders
February 6, 2017
Senator Elaine Phillips (R-Manhasset) recently sponsored a student leadership academy to help local sixth graders develop their leadership skills. The event was held at Sewanhaka High School.
Approximately 60 young leaders from Elmont, Floral Park, Franklin Square and Stewart Manor took part in the academy to learn about the different ways they can continue to lead and make a difference throughout their lives. Students from Carey, Elmont, Floral Park, Holy Trinity and Sewanhaka High Schools served as mentors for the sixth graders. Senator Phillips and Congressman Gregory Meeks also spoke to the students, offered them advice and encouraged them to continue to stay involved and make the world a better place.
