February 6, 2017
Senator Elaine Phillips (R-Manhasset) recently voted to confirm Port Washington resident Rowan Wilson as an Associate Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals is the highest court in New York State.
“Rowan Wilson has an impressive wealth of knowledge, experience and accomplishment as an attorney. Equally as impressive is his commitment to justice and ensuring that everyone, even those who cannot afford a lawyer, has access to it. He will be a valuable addition to New York State’s highest court. Congratulations to Judge Wilson on this well-deserved appointment,” said Senator Phillips, a member of the Senate’s Judiciary Committee.
Mr. Wilson earned his undergraduate degree and law degree from Harvard University, both with honors. He brings over 30 years of legal experience to his new position, most recently serving as a litigation partner in the New York office of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he led the firm’s pro bono work.
Mr. Wilson is the first Long Islander appointed to the New York State Court of Appeals in more than 20 years.
