SENATOR AMEDORE SECURES FUNDING FOR SIDEWALK EXTENSION PROJECT IN THE VILLAGE OF COXSACKIE
March 16, 2017
Senator George Amedore today joined Village of Coxsackie Mayor Mark Evans to announce a $100,000 state grant to assist with extension of the Village sidewalks. The funding will be used to extend the existing sidewalk on Lower Washington Street to the intersection with Sutton Place, and to create a connection on Sutton Place to the existing sidewalk on Molly White Drive.
“I am pleased to work with Mayor Evans to secure these funds that will help promote public safety within the Village of Coxsackie,” said Senator Amedore. “The sidewalk extension project will provide a safer route for our school children and residents -- public safety and quality of life in our communities are always top priority, and this project will greatly improve both.”
"The grant afforded the Village of Coxsackie will allow us to complete a sidewalk extension to the JCB development area that has lacked sidewalk access to the Village for more than 20 years. Residents, and most importantly students, will no longer have to walk along the shoulder and drainage ditch line along a busy highway. Improving access and safety for students walking to school will finally be realized. I thank Sen. Amedore for realizing what an important public safety project this is and his support in securing this grant," said Mark Evans, Village of Coxsackie Mayor.
The $100,000 in funding was secured by Senator Amedore from the State & Municipal grant program, which provides monies to help localities with capital projects and infrastructure improvements.
The Village has already completed engineering work, and the plans have been approved by the State Department of Transportation.
