August 21, 2017
(BRONX, NY) Senator Jamaal T. Bailey hosted an immigration resource fair with partner organizations that included the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, NYC Comptroller Office, NYC Commission on Human Rights, Catholic Charities, NY Legal Assistance Group, Fidelis Care NY, House Calls, Legal Aid Society, and SUNY North Bronx Career Counseling and Outreach Center. The event took place at Tracey Towers, which is located at 40 W Mosholu Pkwy S on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
The event was a great reminder of the diversity in our community. We had people from various backgrounds, ages, and issues. The variety of resources that were available at the fair were able to provide adequate aid to those who needed them. It was an event that demonstrated what America truly is about and how great America already is.
During the event we were able to host a panel that ranged from representatives of elected offices and attorney's who are expert in the field. The audience had the opportunity to ask the panel questions that often times individuals are scared to ask or are misinformed. The overall message of the event was to inform the community of the rights they are entitled to and that Senator Bailey will support the rights of the immigrant community. We were all immigrants at one point.
