More than 100 Attend Sanders' Baisley Houses Career Fair Seeking Employment; At Least Two People Hired on the Spot

State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) hosted a Career Fair on  Monday, February 27, 2017, which was held at the Baisley Houses Community Center. More than 100  job seekers explored the employment opportunities which were offered by nearly 25 different companies in fields such as health, education, law enforcement, civil service and transportation. 

"I feel blessed to be able to bring these job opportunities to the district," Sanders said. "We have some talented, qualified individuals here that would be a worthy addition to any company. It's all about being positive and going out and getting those positions."

One of the people hired on the spot at Sanders' Baisley Houses Career Fair was Ann Seenauth of Jamaica who got a job as a certified nurse’s assistant. She was hired by recruiter Medgine Auguste of Quality Healthcare.

“She had all of the required documents,” Auguste said. “It feels great to be able to help someone looking for work.”

In addition to Quality Homecare, featured guests at the Baisely Houses Career Fair included: the United States Postal Service, NYPD, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, IBEW Local #3, NYC Human Resources Administration, NYS Department of Civil Service, 16 Things Kids Can Do, Port Authority of NY & NJ, Nontraditional Employment for Women, Council For Airport Opportunity, NYC Department of Correction, H&R Block, Royal Care, Cocoon Homecare, U.S. Small Business Administration, Affinity Health Plan, Preferred Home Care, U.S. Army, McKissack & McKissack, Freedom Care, 100 Suits for 100 Men, Civilian Complaint Review Board and NYC Housing Authority.

Senator Sanders will be hosting another job fair, specifically for veterans, on March 20, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Daniel M.
