Sanders Chosen as Ranking Dem on Senate Labor Committee
February 7, 2017
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) today announced that he has been selected by Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and the Democratic Conference to be the Ranking Democrat on the Senate Labor Committee.
"I will continue to be a fierce advocate for the working people of New York as they experience an uncertain federal government," Sanders said. "The threat of backward policies on fair wages, pension, and the overall efforts to weaken labor's positive influence on the standard of living for countless New Yorkers will be at the heart of my service on this committee. Protecting and expanding the gains earned from the labor movement will ensure a stronger middle-class, and by proxy, a stronger New York."
Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said: “I thank Senator Sanders for stepping up and serving as the Ranking Member of the Senate Labor Committee. Senator Sanders has dedicated himself to serving New Yorkers, improving working conditions and ensuring fair pay for hard work. As Ranking Member of the Labor Committee, he will be able to continue his efforts and New Yorkers will be better off as a result.”
