James Sanders Jr.

August 22, 2017

State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) today launched a Job Bank located on the second floor within his District Office at 142-01 Rockaway Boulevard in South Ozone Park. The space is open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The computers are available for 15-minute intervals.

"From this moment forth, we are going to work on the needs of everyday people," Sanders said. "What do everyday people need - jobs. Here is a place where you can increase your skills and also discover how to effectively use what you already know. We have to give people hope. We have to let people know that tomorrow will be a better day than today. Here at this Job Bank, you can advance yourself right here in your own neighborhood. All are welcome."

The Job Bank contains 10 new computers, which were donated by Queens College. There are also bulletin boards featuring the latest job listings for positions within the community and beyond as well as resources on resume writing and the do's an don'ts of job interviews.

As the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Labor Committee and the leader of it's task force on Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises, it is especially important to Senator Sanders to connect constituents to employment opportunities. The Job Bank is just the beginning of an evolving vision that Senator Sanders is putting forth to help the district grow and prosper.
