BRONX, NY – Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) and Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj (D-Bronx) hosted their 22nd annual Chanukah celebration at Bronx House on Wednesday, December 27. Bronx children, senior citizens and local faith leaders gathered to light a menorah at Bronx House, Einstein Hospital, and Peace Plaza. Attendees enjoyed hot cocoa, cookies and gelt as they sang traditional songs.
“Tonight we joined with our families and friends to celebrate Chanukah. We must continue to remember the true meaning of the festival of lights and reflect on miracles, both big and small. During this special holiday, we must recognize the menorah’s symbolism of resilience and hope. I wish you a very safe and happy holiday,” said Senator Jeff Klein.
“It is truly an honor to be part of such a meaningful tradition. Seeing everyone come together to light the menorah and celebrate the miracle of Chanukah is part of what makes this community so special,” said Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj.
