Amityville Residents Provide Input on Community Issues at Sen. Brooks Town Hall

On Tuesday evening, July 25th, Senator John E. Brooks hosted a Town Hall meeting to hear from 50 Amityville constituents and provided them with updates from the legislative session. Local residents voiced their concerns over community issues and provided their input on policy matters at the meeting, held in the Helen Butler Hall at Dominican Village.

Senator Brooks said, “Serving the needs of my constituents and being readily available to hear their concerns are my top priorities and why I invite all constituents to Town Hall meetings like this. In order to make improvements on Long Island and in Albany, taxpayers’ input is essential.”

Among the issues on the Town Hall agenda were taxes, the environment, education, senior citizen concerns, LIRR, traffic and road safety, healthcare, the opioid epidemic, mental health, housing, ethics and corruption in government and others.

Brooks also announced extended office hours every Wednesday until 7:00 p.m. for the remainder of the summer.  Sen. Brooks said, “I understand most of us have very busy lives with family, work, school, and other commitments, and I am pleased to keep my office open so that people have a chance to visit and make their voices heard.”

This Town Hall meeting is one in an ongoing series Senator Brooks is hosting throughout the 8th Senate District. He encourages all residents to attend at least one Town Hall meeting to take the opportunity to ask questions about community matters and concerns, and the legislative process.
