Brooks Supports Parents' Right to Opt Children Out of State Mandated Testing
March 29, 2017
"For the last few years, parents of Long Island have taken a stand against the unvetted, unresearched and unfunded Common Core requirements by opting their children out of the mandated tests. This is the right of every parent, and must be respected," said Senator John Brooks.
"Parents and students on Long Island have continued to speak out that the testing is now having an adverse effect on their children and the number of ‘opt-outs’ speak for themselves. With opt-out rates unlikely to subside this year, school districts must ensure that parents are allowed to exercise that right," Senator Brooks concluded.
