Senator Brooks Announces $2.5 Billion For Water Infrastructure Upgrades in the 2017-18 Budget
April 10, 2017
(Albany, New York) -- The 2017-18 State Budget included $2.5 Billion in money that will go towards much needed water infrastructure upgrades that Senator John E. Brooks (SD-8) has been calling for.
“I am happy to announce that the passage of the 2017-18 State budget includes vital funding to protect our communities and our families by preserving the water right here on Long Island,” Senator Brooks said.
Senator Brooks spoke about the need to fix our water supply at a press conference back in February, where along with his fellow Democratic conference members, they presented a seven-point plan to protect and preserve our water.
“Issues revolving around our drinking water is a problem that faces the entire state but really hits home here on Long Island. This is an issue facing our cities, suburbs and rural communities alike – and it is great that we are taking the first step to solve it in a bipartisan fashion. I am proud to have successfully fought for $2.5 Billion to repair these essential pieces of our infrastructure,” Senator Brooks added.
