Senator Brooks Praises $45 million Funding for LIRR Station Renovations

(Albany, New York) -- Senator John E. Brooks (SD-8) issued the following statement, after the passage of the 2017-2018 New York State Budget, which includes $45 million in capital funding for Long Island Railroad station renovations, including the Merrick, Baldwin and Bellmore stations.
"There is finally some good news for Long Islanders after they endured long continuous problems on the LIRR. I am proud to have voted for a budget that includes $45 million that will go towards important renovations at multiple LIRR stations in my district. While there are still many important steps that must be taken to improve the commuting experience for thousands of hardworking Long Islanders, this money is vital to making critical improvements."
