Senator Jose Peralta Presents State Allocation to Catholic Charities

In order to prepare New Yorkers for the job market, State Senator Jose Peralta secured this year a $50,000 state allocation to Catholic Charities. Senator Peralta pointed out the vital work the organization does to offer training and courses to young adults and adults. The funding will support the organization’s Young Adult Internship Program and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.

“I have been working hand in hand with Catholic Charities for many, many years, so I am very glad I was able to secure state funding for the group,” said Senator Peralta. “Job development and job search are key for finding quality employment opportunities.”

“We are so grateful that we have been awarded $50,000 in discretionary funds in support of our young adult employment and ESL initiatives serving young adults, adults and families in the communities included in Senator Peralta’s district,” said Mary Hurson, Vice President of Family Stabilization Services at Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens.

“These funds will help Catholic Charities provide additional assistance to young adults and adults in our YAIP and ESL programs with work readiness, job development and job search. The funds will also provide for participant supplies such as business attire, metro cards and participant activities to promote student awareness and connection to their community and the world of work,” added Hurson.
