State Senator Jose Peralta provided a $50,000 state allocation to the Jewish Association Serving the Aging, funding that will support services aimed at helping seniors who were victims of scams, deed theft or are going through foreclosure proceedings.
“Protecting our seniors is a top priority for me. Sadly, some of our neighbors were victims of financial scams or deed thefts, and we must ensure we provide them the legal representation they need and deserve,” said Senator Peralta. “Part of the funds will also assist elderly homeowners going through foreclosure proceedings with the objective of making sure they can stay in their homes, properties they worked their entire lives for.”
“JASA/ Legal Services for the Elderly in Queens wishes to take this opportunity to thank Senator Peralta on behalf of JASA and the seniors we serve for this generous funding and for his strong commitment to New York seniors,” said Donna Dougherty, Attorney-in-Charge, JASA/Legal Services for the Elderly in Queens. “These funds will enable us to educate, represent and protect seniors facing loss of their homes through foreclosure, financial scams and deed theft. With this support we will be able to keep Queens seniors in their homes and communities with dignity and autonomy.”
