Today, State Senator Jose Peralta announced funding he secured in the state’s budget for several Corona schools. These allocations will be used to purchase laptops and/or smart boards for the classrooms to upgrade their technological resources.
“Technology tools are vital for our students and we must provide them with the best possible resources in order for them to succeed now and later in life. Students should have the learning tools required in the 21st century, and laptops and smart boards are as important today as pen and paper were in the past,” said Senator Peralta.
The funding will be distributed as follows:
· P.S. 143: $15,000 for the purchase of smart boards.
- P.S. 330: $15,000 for the purchase of laptops/smart boards.
- P.S. 19: $15,000 for the purchase of laptops for classrooms.
- P.S. 16: $15,000 for the purchase of laptops/smart boards.
- P.S. 110: $10,000 for the purchase of smart boards.
- I.S. 61: $10,000 for the purchase of laptops/smart boards.
- The Learning Tree STEM-Arts School: $15,000 for the purchase of laptops/smart boards.
“Senator Peralta's generous funding to P.S.16 will allow our students to continue their technological growth and engagement which in turn helps them toward their career and college readiness,” said P.S. 16 Principal Elaine Iodice.
“P.S. 110 thanks Senator Peralta for his work and commitment to providing resources for the students in our school and community. Senator Peralta and his staff have always advocated for our students and their families. We are grateful for this partnership,” said P.S. 110 Principal Elisa Gomez.
“Through the financial assistance and support of Senator Jose Peralta’s office, The Learning Tree STEM-Arts School in Corona, Queens, New York continues to provide creative educational and cultural diverse programs for our youth using technology. This recent grant will allow the school and students to receive additional interactive whiteboards (SMART Boards), laptop computers and software for children grades K-8. Senator Peralta’s continued support for both youth and education in our community is another great example of his leadership,” said Nicole Bailey, Principal at The Learning Tree STEM-Arts School.
