BROOKLYN, NY (11/6/17) – On Saturday November 4, State Senator Kevin Parker and the City University of New York (CUNY) held their annual CUNY Citizenship Now! application assistance event at the Flatbush YMCA.  In partnership with State Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte and New York City Council Member Jumaane D. Williams, attendees were provided with free, high quality, and confidential one-on-one consultations with attorneys and paralegals to assess their immigration and naturalization needs.

“The citizenship application process is daunting and cumbersome to say the least.  When you couple that with the associated costs, naturalization seems unattainable and leaves many applicants feeling hopeless,” said Senator Parker.  He continued, “That is why it is important to me to bring CUNY Citizenship Now! to help the residents of Central with their immigration issues. Today in the age of Trump, it is even more important that we ensure that our vibrant immigrant communities across our great State receive the support they need to not only flourish, but also maintain their existence for future generations,” concluded the Brooklyn lawmaker.

“Our community events are extremely important because they allow us to support families in need of citizenship application assistance right on the spot. We appreciate Senator Parker, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams and Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte for their partnership, and  for their many years of successfully collaborating with CUNY Citizenship Now! to help raise awareness about the services we afford individuals residing in New York City,” stated Ebony Mason, Events Manager, CUNY Citizenship Now!
